Here is what you would do in the role of Staff Accountant, Audit:

  • Listen carefully to clients. Our clients consider us their trusted advisors. They have problems to solve and come to us for help. Understand their needs and seek to understand the root of their issues.
  • Build relationships with clients. Talk to clients and get to know them. We value words as much as we value numbers, and it is through engaged conversations you will come to learn what is important to a client. We are looking for individuals willing to engage in conversation beyond audit matters.
  • Find solutions. You are an integral member of the client’s advisory team and part of your role is to ensure that the client’s needs are being met. Work closely with your team members to learn how to identify and solve client issues.
  • Continually learn and become a subject matter expert in your area(s) of interest.
  • Performing and completing field work to include the preparation of work papers.
  • Collect and analyze data to detect deficient controls, fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and management policies.
  • Assistance in preparing detailed reports on audit findings.
  • Inspecting client documentation and accounting systems for efficiency, effectiveness, and use of accepted accounting procedures to record transactions.
  • Examine and evaluate financial and information systems, recommending controls to ensure system reliability and data integrity.
  • Provide assistance with low-risk areas of audits, compilations, reviews and other accounting services
  • Preparation of basic financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Assisting with wrap-up tasks of an audit as needed, finalizing work papers, drafting audit letters, etc.
  • Basic tax return preparation as needed.
  • Assistance with other client services as outlined in the firm’s engagement letters and proposals.
  • Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.

Here are the qualifications you should bring to the table:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA or actively pursuing CPA certification.
  • 1+ years of experience in a similar public accounting firm position.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel locally with occasional overnight travel (up to 20%).
