POSITION SUMMARY:

Instructs group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group fitness classes, as directed by the supervisor.
  2. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
  3. Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living; maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
  4. Teaches at least one group fitness class per pay period, unless your supervisor states otherwise.
  5. Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Cardio Dance certification required.
  3. At least one year of experience teaching group fitness classes preferred.
  4. Must possess valid driver’s license.
  5. Experience with diverse populations, varying ages, knowledge and abilities.

CERTIFICATIONS:

1. Bloodborne Pathogens/Child Abuse Prevention every year


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to: bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach, stand, lift up to 50lbs, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk and hear.
