School Based Behavior Support Staff Member
The Hagedorn Little Village School (HLVS) Jack Joel Center for Special Children provides the finest educational and therapeutic programs to pre-school and elementary school children with a wide range of developmental delays and disabilities. Position: Behavior Support Staff Member / Floater Teacher Aide/Assistant
Excellent opportunity to work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to develop clinical skills for future professional growth. Supervision hours may be provided by a BCBA, when available.
- Hours: 8:15-3:30, Monday through Friday
- 12-month salaried position (10-month school calendar plus 6-week summer session)
Job Summary/ Requirements:
- Must be a caring, compassionate person who is eager to work with 3-to-12-year-old students with developmental disabilities in a small (i.e., 6-12 students) classroom environment
- Previous experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or developmental disabilities required
- Strong knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis and data collection
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Must work collaboratively with all Team Members (teachers, assistants, therapists, etc.)
- Must be physically able to handle all aspects of the educational program for children 3-12 years of age which may include, but not limited to, running, bending, and lifting
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; New York State Certified Teacher Assistants and/or New York State Certified Behavior Analyst Assistant preferred
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide support to classroom and therapeutic staff for students identified as having behavioral difficulties
- Provide behavioral support and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) strategies to students
- Assists classroom staff on the implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans, under the direction of Licensed Psychologist/BCBA/Behavior Specialists
- Participate in team meetings, specialized in-house training meetings, etc. for assigned students/classes
- Collaborate with behavior specialists and other team members regarding behavior issues
- Prepare documentation as needed or requested by the Licensed Psychologist/BCBA/Behavior Specialists (e.g., behavior data, observations of student)
- Provide day to day classroom assistance as Teacher Aide/Assistant

Salary: $40,365
