Job Title: MIG Welder
Location: Richmond, VA
Shift: Monday – Friday
Regular Shift Hours: 6:00am – 2:30pm
Hourly Rate: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour
We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as MIG Welders in Richmond, VA. As MIG Welder, you will play a crucial role in the equipment manufacturing process. The primary responsibilities include laying out, fitting and welding fabricated steel frames and/or metal parts on production floor using welding equipment. Measures and marks locations for metal components on assembly table following blueprints. Verifies position of metal components in assembly using straight edge, combination square and rule.
Essential Job Functions of MIG Welder:
- Adjusts and uses torch and plasma cutter and/or grinder properly in standard/non-standard positions following engineering drawings.
- Weld in vertical, flat, horizontal or overhead positions.
- Use basic hand tools, such as tape measure, square, clamps, etc., to assess quality of weldments.
- Examines work piece for defects and ensures conformance with specifications.
- Weld out components previously tack welded by experienced welders.
- Prep and finish metal components by grinding or sanding.
- Performs MIG welding and some TIG welding.
- Operate material handling equipment such as overhead crane/hoist.
- Responsible for movement of material or product and proper storage.
Education and Experience of MIG Welder:
- High school diploma or GED certificate preferred.
- Experience in MIG and TIG welding (1-3 yrs preferred)
- Ability to read and understand English
- Ability to read drawings, sketches, and blueprints.
- Capable of performing standard measurements. Good shop math skills. Mechanical aptitude.
- Understands basic procedure of voltage and amp settings for given requirements.
- Must be physically able to wear required appropriate personal protective equipment
