GENERAL SUMMARY:
The responsibilities of the Shipping and Receiving position include reviewing shipping orders, verifying precise documentation, picking orders, pulling products, shrink-wrapping, and building pallets for shipment.
SCOPE OF JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Accurately select flooring product orders, palletize, and shrink-wrap each order, ensuring secure handling of the heavy material.
- Read shipping orders to determine quantity and type of transportation needed.
- Ensure the accuracy of all shipping documents, gather, and maintain all data related to shipping activities.
- Collect all documentation for in/outboard freight and route to the proper record-keeping unit.
- Load and unload products from trailers using forklift trucks and other material handling equipment.
- Schedule inbound and outbound freight to comply with warehouse operations.
- Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and issue instructions for loading products.
- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, safely and efficiently.
- Store the products in proper places in the warehouse.
- Transport products to and from warehouse.
- Sort, pack, wrap, tie and label products as per company procedures.
- Clean work area and equipment regularly by removing empty pallets, wood and plastic.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and organized work environment.
- Keep an equipment checklist and perform preventative maintenance of equipment.
- Load and unload products from trailers using forklift trucks and other material handling equipment.
- Deliver products to various units in a safe and timely manner.
- Monitor and maintain accurate inventory.
- Follow company standards and legal regulations to ensure a safe and positive work atmosphere.
- Performs routine pre and post inspections. Recommends repairs.
- Study production schedule to determine material requirements, movements, and deliveries.
- Identify and report faulty equipment, damages, and safety concerns to Supervisor immediately.
- Perform additional duties as required or requested.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
- High School Education or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years of Warehouse experience.
- One (1) year of experience operating a Forklift.
- Ability to use a computer and/or RF Scanner.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
