Job Description:

Clinical Nurse Apheresis Unit at the David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care, NYC

You Will:

  • Perform photopheresis and therapeutic apheresis procedure to collect stem cells & other blood components.
  • Review documentation before beginning procedure IE: collection order, documentation of catheter tip placement, physician orders for the procedure, patient consent and medical history form
  • Assess the physical status of patients pre and post-treatment and identifies patient problems and needs.
  • Work with Medical Physics Department staff, monitor all Quality Assurance programs daily, prepare all documentation, and presents data for FDA/MQSA/NYCBRH inspections.
  • Perform all venipunctures and access VADs per nursing policy using accepted principles of infection control
  • Provides physical care and administers medications according to established nursing policies and procedures
  • Communicates with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective care.
  • Provide education to patients and families about the treatment plans and associated procedures.

You Have:

  • New York State RN license and BSN
  • 1.5 years of related medical/surgical experience required; Previous ED, ICU, or IV Team experience highly preferred.
  • Strong IV insertion skills
  • Experience with Apheresis procedures preferred but will provide extensive training to novice Apheresis staff.
  • BCLS
