A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A JOB COACH

As a Job Coach, you provide direct support services to adults with developmental disabilities working through the Goodwill Group Supported Employment (GSE) Program. Job Coaches are also part of the Goodwill retail site management team. Job Coaches work primarily in the back of the store and are responsible for the production of textile with the GSE team. The ideal candidate will provide individual support and encouragement to Program Participants, through a variety of methods, to help them improve their job skills, soft skills, and move to less restrictive work environments.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CAREER DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST

The successful candidate will have a minimum of six (6) months experience working with people with developmental disabilities and/or six (6) months of Goodwill store retail experience. You must possess or be able to obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Card, along with other required trainings. Candidate must have the skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all individuals, along with the ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds. The ability to read, write and speak English; bilingual a plus! The position may require travel and transfers to all Goodwill sites as necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Know and demonstrate company values at all times.
  • Work side-by-side and train Program Participants
  • Monitor and document individual Program Participant performance.
  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team focusing on best practices to improve Program Participant soft and hard skills.
  • Provide pertinent and timely information to the GSE Supervisor or Rehabilitation Manager for Program Participant meetings/IWRP
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation including daily time cards, progress notes, case notes, pre-teaming, monthly checklists, and handbook/participant rights reviews.
  • Understand Program Participants’ Individual Work Rehabilitation Plans (IWRP) to focus on individual goas and objectives and monthly progress reports.
  • Understand and maintain CARF compliance, safety, kaizen, and task analyses.
  • Communicate effectively and work in collaboration with Department Managers Rehabilitation Manager, and GSE Supervisor.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Display work habits of regular attendance, punctuality, teamwork, initiative, willingness to learn, dependability, and promptness.
  • Actively promotes safety and loss prevention policies and reports issues immediately.
  • Respond to incoming calls and emails with a positive demeanor.
  • Attends and participates in monthly meetings, as required.
