After completing the Med Aide class, we would love to have you apply to work at our Avamere facilities as a CMA! Talk to your class instructor to learn more!

Students must complete the classroom portion of the class and successfully demonstrate competency of the classroom/lab portion of the class after progressing to the clinical portion. Once students enter into the clinical portion, the primary responsibility is to care for patients assigned in a safe manner including, but not limited to, the standards listed below and to be compliant with the Oregon State Board of Nursing, while maintaining the standards of the facility offering clinical experience.

Learn to:

  • Administer medications to residents as ordered and under the direction of the attending physician.
  • Administer medications in accordance with established nursing standards, policies, procedures and practices of this facility, and requirements of the state.
  • Accurately and safely prepare, administer and document the oral and/or topical medications ordered for a resident.
  • Complete necessary forms, charts and reports in a timely matter.
  • Ensure that all medications administered are properly labeled, returned and reordered.
  • Create and uphold an atmosphere of warmth, patience, enthusiasm, and a calm and cheerful environment.
  • Participate in facility surveys by authorized government agencies.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a minimum of a 10th grade education.
  • Must have been a CNA for minimum of 6 months
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Effectively communicate necessary resident information to Primary Instructor, Charge Nurses, Director of Nursing and/or Administrator.
  • Must complete background check.
  • Vaccination not required
