American Workforce Group has partnered with an established, long-standing plastics manufacturing leader in Tacoma, WA to hire a full-time Maintenance Technician / Assistant. Working directly alongside experienced maintenance mechanics on a steady weekday day shift, you will perform routine preventative maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems, source parts, and keep critical plastics production lines running safely. If you bring baseline mechanical/electrical aptitude, forklift operating experience, and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty, comprehensive plant training will take your skills to the next level!

Description for Maintenance Technician / Assistant:

• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain plant production machinery, plastics processing equipment, conveyors, and warehouse facilities.
• Execute scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) routines: replace air/fluid filters, grease bearings, lubricate mechanical drives, align belts, and tighten hardware.
• Safely operate sit-down forklifts to transport replacement components, tooling, machinery parts, and maintenance supplies across the facility.
• Research, identify, and source replacement parts, fittings, hardware, and maintenance supplies from vendor catalogs and local suppliers.
• Conduct daily facility safety and operational efficiency audits on all running machinery and emergency shutoffs.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, multimeters, and shop equipment safely while maintaining clean, organized maintenance shop bays.
• Strictly adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, machine guarding guidelines, and facility environmental safety standards.

Details for Maintenance Technician / Assistant:

• Pay Rate: $22.00 / hour.
• Schedule: Full-Time Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• Training: Comprehensive, hands-on industrial training provided for motivated candidates with solid baseline mechanical knowledge.
• Location: Tacoma, WA manufacturing plant.
• Work Environment: Active, hands-on plastics manufacturing facility (comfortable working in dusty/dirty industrial areas).
• Position Type: Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire career pathway.

Requirements for Maintenance Technician / Assistant:

• Technical Aptitude: Baseline mechanical and electrical troubleshooting knowledge (experience using basic hand/power tools and diagnostic meters).
• Equipment Operation: Demonstrated experience operating industrial sit-down forklifts safely.
• Comfortable working in an active, dusty, and dirty industrial production plant.
• Gear: Must possess own steel-toed work boots.
• Screening: Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Exceptional history of daily attendance, prompt morning punctuality, and a proactive "get-it-done" work ethic.
