Divergent: Jobs that belong with each faction

The Divergent movie is about to be released, but the series of books has already taken the nation by storm. It is the story of Tris, who lives in a dystopian society where you have to chose a faction of society to dedicate yourself to when you turn 16. Each faction has different values and principles, which mandates the way they live.

This got us thinking. If the factions existed in today’s world, who would do what job? So, we put together a rundown of each faction and where we think their members would work.

Abnegation (The Selfless)

The Abnegation always put others before themselves. This group of people will always be found giving up their seats on the bus so someone else can sit, dressing in very simple clothes, never looking into mirrors and will always be there when you need a hand. In fact, I bet the only fights they get into are over who gets to clean up. If you think you fall into this category, here are the jobs you can expect to excel in:

Heathcare
Social Services
Administrative Assistant
Cook/Chef 

Erudite (The Intelligent)

The Erudite believe that life should be a constant search for knowledge and that wars are fought due to lack of understanding and intelligence. You can find them at the library, making convincing speeches at town hall and always asking questions. I would imagine these were the people in school who always are raising their hands. If you think this is you, here are some jobs you may be interested in:

Librarian
Scientist
Teacher
Computer Science/IT
Engineer

Dauntless (The Brave)

The Dauntless strive to become fearless and consider bravery the most desirable aspect a person can posses. They can be found jumping off of trains, scaling tall heights and never backing down from a fight. If you ever come across a late-night game of capture the flag, you can be guaranteed it’s the Dauntless. If this is you, consider one of these jobs:

Security guard
Police officer/Detective/Firefighter
Lifeguard
Driver
Construction

Amity (The Peaceful)

Amity values peace above anything else. They are known for being kind, happy and laid back. They are the ones setting up art festivals, singing in the park and mediating arguments. The next time you are at the local Farmer’s Market, consider the vendors from Amity. They do not take sides in time of war and do whatever they can to avoid conflict. Is this you? Candor (The Honest)

The Candor consider honesty the best quality a person can have. They absolutely will not lie to you. To them, everything is back or white – honest or a lie. They are known for their ability to lead and are able to read body language to detect lies. If this sounds like your type of personality, think about these positions:

Manager/supervisor
Cashier
Banker
Bookkeeper
Accountant
