Employer insights on hiring hourly workers

Darrell is Snagajob’s Manager of Content & Copywriting, where he enjoys writing and editing advice that helps workers and businesses align and succeed. His first hourly job was totally chill, bagging ice at an ice cube f-f-f-factory.

Snagajob surveyed hundreds of employers, asking them what they’re now doing differently to attract elusive workers. Here’s what they said:

65% - Offering higher wages for my employees

66% - Providing paid time off

54% - Posting jobs on job boards to find new workers

How can you capitalize on these hiring trends?

1. Immediately rethink your offering.

To succeed in changing times, businesses are well-advised to commit now to new thinking or lose ground to competitors who do. Offering more pay, flexibility, and benefits is essential.

2. Tap into untapped pools of workers

Explore pools of candidates you might not have considered pre-pandemic. This ranges from teens and other first-time hires, to groups of workers who are underutilized such as second-chance hires and mothers who are gradually returning to the workforce now that childcare is less of an obstacle (as long as you offer enough flexibility in their schedules).
