Employer Spotlight: Jerry DiGenova, Carrols Corporation

Today we’re spotlighting Jerry DiGenova, who has worked with us for many years with Carrols, and retired today.

“Jerry, a legend at Snagajob, is known for his incredible passion and genuine desire in building great teams and doing what is right for hourly workers.”  Beth Burdette, Senior Account Manager at Snagajob, says of working with Jerry, “He is known as one of the most humble, down-to-earth partners that Snagajob has ever had the pleasure of working with.”

Jerry has been a loyal Snagajob customer for 15 years, as part of his 50-year career with Carrols, starting out as an hourly worker like the ones that visit Snagajob every day. He was hired in 1973 as a “5-8 Grillman” at a Carrols restaurant in New York, and over the next five years worked his way up the ranks from Swing Manager, to Second Assistant Manager, to Restaurant General Manager, as Carrols restaurants converted into Burger King after a franchise agreement with the Burger King Corporation.

In the following years and decades, Jerry moved into corporate roles, starting as a Market Training Manager, all the way up to his current role as Vice President of Human Resources since July 2001. During that time, he played a key role in integrating the Pollo Tropical and Taco Cabana brands into the Carrols portfolio, which were later spun off into the Fiesta Restaurant Group. Carrols also continued their amazing growth, into a publicly traded billion-dollar company with over 1,100 restaurant locations.

As Jerry grew in his career, he found a successful partnership with Snagajob, where he connected Snagajob with other restaurants in the Carrols and Fiesta Restaurant Group portfolios.

In more than 10 years working together with Jerry, he has led the strategy for hourly recruitment for Carrols. Through him, Snagajob has partnered with over 1,000 Burger King locations, posting thousands of jobs. He has even spoken several times at Snagajob’s Hour Minds and HireMinds as a respected thought leader.

Jerry is an incredible example of a loyal, hardworking customer, and he encapsulates the dreams of many of our hourly workers, building experience toward a long and successful career.

We are so happy for Jerry on his next adventures and we are so proud to have had the opportunity to work with him over the years.
