Weekly Hourly Hiring Report 11/24/20

Highlights

Overall jobs are up 1% week over week, up 9% month over month and up 21% since early March.

COVID cases are rapidly rising as states and local governments issue restrictions to manage the spread. It’s clear this is just the beginning of the impact of cold weather on the quarantine economy. We expect the recovery will continue to slow without the support of a second stimulus package. However, consumers are still spending—online shopping is projected to surpass $189 billion over the next two months, up 33% from 2019.

It’s Thanksgiving. And while things are very different this year, we’re more grateful than ever before for your partnership. Thank you for your continued readership of this report. We’ll be here throughout the months ahead—tracking jobs and the impact of this pandemic on hourly workers and employers.
