Weekly Hourly Hiring Report 12/8/20

Highlights

Overall, jobs are up 14% week over week, flat month over month, and up 15% since early March.

Last Friday’s jobs report announced that the U.S. economy added 245,000 jobs in November. So while the labor market does continue to recover—even as COVID cases surge—the rate of recovery is slowing significantly. The U.S. has 9.8 million fewer jobs than it had in February.

President-elect Biden announced that he supports another round of $1,200 checks, but lawmakers have yet to pass a second stimulus deal.

Amid concerns that labor force participation is on the decline, Google searches for part-time jobs are up 22% week over week as workers explore employment in growing industries that are new to them.
