Job Seeker FAQ
These are the most frequently asked questions we get about how to use Snagajob. If you still have questions, you can find us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn. Plus, there are even more tips on finding and applying to jobs here.
Create your profile first. Include as much information about your skills, education and experience as possible. An employer might ask you for more information later on in the process, but you want to make sure you make this as clear and as detailed as possible. Fill out your profile completely to get better matches and stand out to employers.
When your profile is ready, follow these simple steps:
Search for a job using a keyword and address.
Click the Apply Now button when you find a job that interests you.
Answer any additional questions the application may have.
Click the Submit Application button when finished.
You may be asked to finish the application on the employer's website. If that's the case, you’ll be redirected to their website where you’ll fill out some more information to complete the application.
Wait to hear from the employer. Don’t forget to check your email and voicemail regularly. If you don’t hear from employers within 7-10 business days, you can contact them directly on your own. See: How can I contact employers?
To review or edit your profile, first sign in to your account. Then follow these steps:
Desktop
Click My Account in the top right corner of your screen.
Select My Profile.
Click Edit or Add in the section you'd like to update.
Make the changes and then click Save.
Mobile web
Click the three horizontal lines in the top right corner of your screen.
Select My Profile.
Click Edit or Add in the section you'd like to update.
Make the changes and then click Save.
We can't give you an exact answer because Snagajob isn’t involved in employers' hiring decisions. There are many possible reasons for your application being rejected, though:
There's a lot of competition for jobs right now.
Your skills and work experience may not be exactly what the employer is looking for.
There are blanks in your profile. Employers like to have as much information about you as possible.
You may have made a spelling mistake. While this sounds like a small thing, employers tell us this is the number one mistake that job seekers make. Check out our resume and applications tips for more helpful advice.
Don't get discouraged! Our most successful job seekers apply to 10 or more jobs. So get out there and apply, apply, apply. Check out our insider tips to help you find a job.
We always encourage job seekers to keep their profiles updated with new skills and experience. You can’t edit an application after it’s already been submitted. But you might be able to reach out to employer with your updated resume.
If you were sent to the employer's website to apply, you might be able to log into their system to make the changes. Your best bet is to check their website first before you try to contact them directly.
You can always contact the employer on your own, explain your situation and provide your updated information.
Some of the employers who advertise jobs on our site require job seekers to apply on their company website. When you click Apply Now on Snagajob, you may be sent to another site to finish the application process. Don’t skip this step! If you don’t finish this application process, you won’t be considered for the job.
If you have computer problems or other trouble finishing the application on the employer’s site, come back to Snagajob, sign in and go to My Applications. Look for the title of the job you're trying to apply to and click on it to finish the application. This link will take you directly to the employer's site and you may be asked to sign in to their site to finish your application.
You need an email address to use Snagajob, but the good news is that it’s free, quick and easy to get your own email address. Gmail and Yahoo both allow you to create free email accounts. Just be sure to pick an email name that’s in good taste and professional—employers may not call you if your email is partygurl23@email.com.
Are you sure you want to delete your account? We can’t reactivate it once deleted. You must have an account to apply to jobs on Snagajob. If you’ve already found a job, we recommend you keep your profile active in case a great opportunity comes along.
If your profile is outdated, just sign in and click My Account > My Profile > Edit
If you want to stop receiving emails from us, click here to unsubscribe. You can still keep your Snagajob account, without the alerts. Log in to your account and select Notification Settings from the menu. In the middle of the page, you'll see the options to edit your alerts by frequency (daily, weekly, monthly). To not receive them at all just select Off.
If you’ve decided to permanently delete your account, go to the Submit a case form and select Delete Account as the Issue Type. Then submit your request. Please tell us why you're deleting your account—if there's anything we can do to make your experience on Snagajob better, we want to know!
That's easy! Click here to unsubscribe. Make sure the email address you enter is the same one that appears at the bottom of the emails you receive from us. You can also change the frequency of how often you receive emails in your Notification Settings tab.
Please note:
You may receive emails that were sent before your request was processed. All email correspondence will completely end within 10 business days.
The employers on our site have asked us not to give out their contact information. To contact an employer, we suggest using your local directory, going directly to the employer’s website or using an Internet search engine to find contact information for the location you applied to. Most of our employers list their address on our website, so you can use that information in your search.
Following up on your application is an important part of your job search. Not sure exactly what to do? No worries! We break it down for you in this video.

Some employers post the hourly wages they offer in their job descriptions, while others choose to discuss that information in the interview.
Snagajob is free for job seekers. If you need to hire employees for your business, posting jobs on Snagajob is effective and affordable. Find out more about how Snagajob can help your business.
You should be a United States resident to apply for any of the jobs posted on our website. Keep in mind that employers are looking for workers who can come in for an interview and start work immediately.
With very few exceptions, international applicants looking for jobs in the United States must have a J-1 Exchange Visitors’ Visa or an F-1 Visa. The following websites should have information and advice in choosing a program and obtaining a visa: Alliance Abroad; Apex USA; InterExchange; Camp Counselors USA; BUNAC; CampAmerica and Association for International Practical Training.
Because of the high turnover rate in hourly jobs, some of our employers choose to list their job openings with Snagajob year-round to build a pool of potential candidates. These employers are constantly hiring new workers—however, they may not be hiring in your area at the exact moment you're looking for a job.
What does this mean for you? If you apply to a job and then the employer tells you they’re not interviewing now, be patient. We hear from job seekers that they get hired weeks, even months after applying. The employer has your application filed away and may contact you when positions open back up. In the meantime, please check Snagajob regularly, because we add new jobs every day.
