As a customer service team member at the Service Desk, you will be on the front line of ensuring customer satisfaction. With an outgoing personality, a desire to help others, and an ability to solve problems, you’ll handle a variety of transactions and be a fountain of information, guaranteeing customers leave the Service Desk with a smile on their face.

I will add value by:
  • Providing incredible customer service by acting as a resource for customers to turn to when they are unsure where to direct a question or concern, finding a solution or locating the correct person / department to assist them
  • Striving to build relationships with customers and leave a lasting positive impression
  • Following Wegmans standards and acting in accordance with policies, asking a Team Leader about making exceptions to meet customer needs when appropriate
  • Performing tasks throughout the department including operating lottery and That’s T.H.E. Ticket machines; administering the Shopper’s Club program; selling stamps and money orders; renting out carpet cleaning machines; checking out customers as necessary; performing refunds and exchanges; etc
  • Maintaining the appearance and functionality of the bottle return room, emptying full machines, ensuring the area is pleasant for customers to be in and contacting management or maintenance with any problems that arise
  • Prioritizing and balancing a variety of tasks simultaneously, including answering and transferring calls, assisting customers and maintaining the overall appearance of the department
  • Assisting Front End departments as necessary, running a register to ensure customers are receiving incredible service and wait times during check out are minimized
  • Properly completing all paperwork and reports regarding food borne illness, product recalls and other food safety issues and acting as a resource for customers to go to with questions or concerns
  • Adhering to Wegmans food safety and safety guidelines when handling products and machinery as well as state laws during the sale of alcohol and lottery services


Qualifications

What abilities I must bring to the table to be considered:
· Provide incredible customer service, greeting customers and answering questions in a friendly manner, proactively offering assistance and providing accurate and timely information, making product/ service recommendations and accommodating special requests
· Possess teamwork and diversity awareness by listening to others’ points of view and recognizing and appreciating differences
· Recognize and seek opportunities for continuous learning to gain new understandings, skills and knowledge
· Properly handle, prepare, transport and store products; ensuring food and human safety practices are strictly adhered to
· Possess organizational skills, prioritizing requests and department activities while managing interruptions and attending to details to complete tasks within deadlines
· Able to problem solve, anticipating, analyzing, and identifying problems, responding quickly when situations arise and preventing problems when possible.
What will set me apart from other candidates:

  • Customer service or service desk experience, preferably in a grocery or retail setting
  • Experience working as a cashier and operating a cash register
  • Write and speak clearly, concisely and with tact in a variety of settings using effective communication skills; demonstrating empathy and respect for others at all times
  • Possess delegation skills and clearly communicate expectations in a positive way, assess employees' abilities when assigning tasks and follow-up to ensure their completion

Work environment:
  • Continuous interactions with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment
  • Typical motions include repetitive hand and arm movements, occasional bending and frequent reaching
  • Responsible for moving and lifting an average of 3 – 8 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 40 pounds occasionally
  • May be exposed to various allergens
  • Will be required to spend the majority of time on his or her feet and stand or walk without a break for up to 4 hours

Age Requirement: Must be 16 years or older.

Days/Hours Requirement: Part time employees must be available at least Monday through Saturday between the hours of 12pm and 10pm (Sundays optional). Our existing stores experience busy sales patterns on the weekends. All hourly employees will earn time and one-half on Sunday.
