Position Description

• Leads pharmacy sourcing strategies for area of responsibility (for example, diabetics, allergy, heart disease) by providing pharmaceutical sourcing subject matter expertise to key stakeholders (for example, Merchandising, Global Sourcing leadership); partnering with supply chain stakeholders on financial and strategic plans; managing functional strategy, processes, and tools; performing an analysis, risk assessment, and modeling of the sourcing plan; leveraging interdependencies across inventory, forecast models, and supply chain variables that impact business performance; researching and accounting for industry trends and impacting factors (for example, new product development, active pharmaceutical ingredients, raw material shortage); evaluating and revising work processes to ensure inventory purchases meet demand for portfolio or strategic business unit sales; and determining and ensuring availability of alternative products or sourcing methods to address business needs (for example, product shortage, increased demand).
• Manages product and supplier selection and utilization based on their alignment with product technical specifications, historical performance, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) information on pharmacy products for area of responsibility (for example, diabetics, allergy, heart disease) by developing Walmart's strategy for pharmaceuticals within area of responsibility to ensure optimal quality and cost across multiple retail markets; leads the supplier selection and management process (for example, request for proposals (RFP), negotiation, issue resolutions); driving resolutions to identified obstacles; and leveraging existing knowledge and best practices to drive consistency and standardization of sourcing across suppliers; and
• Leads sourcing for pharmacy portfolio for area of responsibility (for example, preventatives, allergy, heart disease) by collaborating on reviews of strategic sourcing plans; aligning portfolio goals with strategic business unit goals; influencing and collaborating with executive Health and Wellness, Merchandising and Planning leadership to ensure sales, in-stock, inventory, and profitability metrics are achieved; providing direction, reviewing, and approving trade-offs between store in-stock and sourcing investment; analyzing trends in financial performance, product performance, and external market factors to align resources to address future challenges; integrating results of team analytics (for example, inventory analysis) to influence strategic business unit team decisions; overseeing modeling of future inventory plans against supply chain capability; and communicating objectives and results of sourcing operations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Pre-med or related field and 3 years experience in pharmaceutical sourcing, pharmaceutical engineering, health and wellness merchandising, or related field OR 5 years experience in pharmaceutical sourcing, pharmaceutical engineering, health and wellness merchandising, or related field.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• 5 years experience in pharmaceutical sourcing, pharmaceutical engineering, or pharmaceutical sales.
