Wegmans Food Markets will be hosting a Culinary Recruitment Event for our Massachusetts stores. This event will provide you with a glimpse into the life of our Culinary and Restaurant employees. Participants will be able to learn about culinary careers at Wegmans and interview for culinary opportunities.

Wegmans is now hiring for Full-time and Part-time Culinary/Cook positions within our Massachusetts stores located in; Northborough, Chestnut Hill, Burlington, and Westwood.

The Culinary Recruitment Event will take place on Monday 6/8/15 and Tuesday 6/9/15 from 8am – 8pm at:

A glimpse at the job:

The Culinary areas of Wegmans stores and restaurants are responsible for creating restaurant-quality prepared foods. Employees work hands on with the finest ingredients to produce the core recipes our customers have come to know and love. Because of the skills and passion of our culinary professionals we are able to make great meals easy for our customers; offering meal solutions and suggestions for completing their menus.

Culinary areas include: Asian Wokery; Hot Line*; Kitchen (Prepared Foods case); Sushi.

The Restaurant Area allows customers to experience a one-of-a-kind, dynamic eatery in our restaurants or café environments, or enjoy delicious prepared foods from departments such as Coffee, Pizza, Subs, Sushi and other café offerings from areas including the Wokery, Fresh Foods Bar, etc.

Restaurant areas include: Sub Shop, Pizza Shop, Coffee Shop and Catering

Work Environment:

• Work involves continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment
• Typical motions include repetitive hand and arm movements, bending and reaching
• Responsible for moving and lifting an average of 5 – 20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds rarely
• May be exposed to various allergens and work environments, including temperature changes
• Tasks will be performed using and in the proximity of coolers, ovens, stoves and other hot equipment; cooking and kitchen utensils and equipment
• Will be required to spend the majority of time on his or her feet and stand or walk without a break for up to 4 hours

What abilities I must bring to the table to be considered:

• Experience working in restaurant service or other industry experience
• Strong communication skills

Qualifications

Cook II / Cook III (Customer Service)


Customer Service Cooks II and III have a passion for preparing food as well a desire to develop their skills and talents in the kitchen. They play an integral role in preparing ingredients and core recipes, merchandising products in our Chef’s
cases, and ensuring customers are provided incredible service and access to products throughout the day.

What abilities I must bring to the table to be considered:


In addition to Incredible Customer Service, successful applicants will possess one or more of the following:

• Experience working as a Cook II / line cook
• Managerial/ supervisory experience
• Associates or Bachelors degree in Culinary Arts
• Experience working in a multi-faceted food service facility, including restaurant, hotel, country club, conference center,
• Casino, theme park, etc.

Cook I (Team Leader)


Cook I Team Leaders work closely with Executive Chefs and Sous Chefs to oversee a culinary area of the store. They are given the opportunity to work hands on developing the food passion and skills of employees, display their expertise in
culinary arts while producing great tasting food; ensure the kitchen is operating smoothly and customers are provided with incredible service.

What abilities I must bring to the table to be considered:


In addition to Incredible Customer Service, successful applicants will possess one or more of the following:

• Experience working as a Cook II / line cook
• Managerial/ supervisory experience
• Associates or Bachelors degree in Culinary Arts
• Experience working in a multi-faceted food service facility, including restaurant, hotel, country club, conference center, casino, theme park, etc.

Sous Chef


Sous Chefs assist in setting the culinary standard throughout the store; using their culinary talents as well as managerial skills to oversee a Culinary area of the store. They work with a team to ensure the great tasting foods are available for our
customers to enjoy throughout the day and they are receiving incredible service and assistance preparing their meals.

What abilities I must bring to the table to be considered:


In addition to Incredible Customer Service, successful applicants will possess one or more of the following:

- Experience working in a multi-faceted food service facility, including restaurant hotel, country club, conference center, casino, theme park, etc.

- Experience as a Cook I with supervisory responsibilities
• Associates or Bachelors degree in Culinary Arts
• Managerial/ supervisory experience
• Diverse culinary experience, including working with a variety of food in a variety of regions and/ or cultures

Other


• Full time applicants are required to have an open availability Monday - Saturday between the operating hours of 6am-Midnight and are typically scheduled a minimum of 40 hours a week. Our existing stores experience busy sales patterns on the weekends. All hourly employees will earn time and one-half on Sunday.

- Part time employees may work up to 30 hours/week, between 4 & 8 hours at a time based on department needs. Weekly hours and specific shifts are not guaranteed. The most successful applicants offer an availability spanning several hours at a time, on multiple days/week. Specific days/hours of work vary by position/department and will generally include weekends. Our existing stores experience busy sales patterns on the weekends. All hourly employees will earn time and one-half on Sunday.

• Employment at Wegmans is contingent upon applicants taking and our evaluation of a physical, drug screen and/or criminal background check

Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older.

Days/Hours Requirement: Looking for both part time and full time availabilities with flexible scheduling.
