The person in this role will hold the following responsiblities:
- Work with software engineers to modernize COBOL and CICS applications
- Fully leverage feature functions from COBOL, CICS, DB2, MQ Series and related products
- Assist in moving code from COBOL to Java
- Educate software engineers about the business rules manager for zOS
- Drive adoption of a modernization agenda
- Use SOAP and RESTful web services
- Use CICS web services, as both a provider and consumer of web services within CICS
- Install and optimize Liberty on zOS mainframe
- Help software engineers run batch programs in a Liberty container to reduce consumption
- Assist with data analytics
- Help develop and evangelize best practices and standards for software engineers
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years mainframe experience
- Strong customer service focus
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong background in mainframe operations
- Strong programming aptitude
- Highly motivated to research, prototype, document and share new technology and best practices
- Strong technical acumen and desire to work within a technical group
- Required technology experience: COBOL, JCL, DB2, MQ, CICS
Preferred Qualifications:
- CICS patterns
- Java on Z Operating Systems (REST, JSON, Liberty)
- CICS Web Services
- Web Development (to replace Green Screens)
- SAS, zSeries SSL, SharePoint or Self-provisioning on zSeries
- IBM Operation Decision Management on zSeries
- zSeries metrics (CPU, I/O, Storage, Response Time)
- Demonstrated skills to conceive visualize and present strategic initiatives and messages
- Possess curiosity and enthusiasm about investigating new product feature/functions and their application to the environment
- Demonstrated ability to envision strategic application of tools to modernize and streamline IT processes and translate the vision to action
- Demonstrated collaboration and facilitation skills used to influence decisions
