GENERAL SUMMARY: Responsible for direct supervision of multiple employees in a large, multi-faceted environment, which includes departments such as Inbound, Stocking, Picking, Sorter, and Shipping. Primary area of focus is on employee engagement. Creates a positive work environment where direct reports are motivated to meet or exceed expectations. Trains, coaches and develops associates on efficient work methods to increase individual and department productivity. Exercises independent discretion and judgment in the execution of business strategies by providing leadership and direction to the team. Ensures daily production volumes are met or surpassed. Monitors department results and determines changes that are needed in procedures or conditions that could affect operating costs. Participates in annual budget preparations. Includes decision making in evaluating performance, hiring, and termination. Collaborates with Resource Planning Analyst to plan, make decisions, and organize day-to-day operations. All work is done in partnership and under the supervision of the respective Operations Manager. This position may require working any department and/or shift.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Spends approximately 75% of time on the floor with associates driving employee engagement, coaching, teaching, developing and providing timely performance feedback.


· Provides direct and/or indirect supervision to a team of skilled employees, which may include Merchandise Handlers, Process Coordinators and Resource Planning Analysts.

· Responsible for creating and supporting a positive work environment by observing and coaching employees on proper behaviors tied to performance evaluations.

· Owns, completes and delivers performance evaluations for each associate.

· Sets and communicates clear expectations for team members regarding expected productivity results.

· Build trust with all business partners and direct reports that motivates and promotes collaboration and accountability to meet team goals, support decision making and discuss solutions.

· Ensures safety guidelines, policies and procedures are adhered to by all Gap Inc. associates, temporary associates, contractors and visitors.

· Drives employee engagement through Employee Opinion Surveys.

· Ability to navigate through conflict and tough decisions while maintaining rapport and trust.

· In partnership with business partners, plans and organizes day-to-day operations activities/objectives.

o Wave planning, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly targets and goals, shift turnover.

· Clearly assigns responsibility for tasks and decisions; sets clear objectives and measures; monitors process, progress, and results; designs feedback loops into work.

· Consistently applies and administers policies/guidelines that directly affect work activities.

· Ensures production, accuracy, and inventory standards meet DC objectives.
  • Improves efficiency, quality and service of ongoing work by identifying process improvements.


· Responsible for scheduling and assigning work and meeting completion dates.

· Presents problem analysis and recommended solutions in a creative and logical manner.

· Impacts business through responsibility for end results of the team or unit.

ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS: Must be able to communicate effectively and respond to the needs and questions of direct reports and business partners in a timely manner. Must effectively partner with Operational Leadership and/or Support functions on related issues, concerns and initiatives when necessary.

Qualification

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Knowledge of distribution operating systems.

· Strong interpersonal and human relation skills.

· Strong written and oral communication skills.

· Strong ability to multi-task.

· Demonstrated ability to lead and develop both self and others.
  • Knowledge and experience using various computer systems to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint.


· Ability to analyze problems, create solutions, and multi-task with attention to detail.

· Bachelors Degree Preferred

· 3+ years of line supervision preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to engage others through effective leadership.
  • Basic understanding of data processing principles, planning and organizing.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, reach, grasp, bend and stack cartons as needed.
