Summary:

Responsible for delivering all management functions for a designated shift in the absence of the General Manager or the Restaurant Manager.  The Assistant Restaurant Manager supervises the Crew Personnel for a designated shift in the absence of the General Manager or the Store Manager.

Essential Job Functions:

Financial:

  • Follows The Company’s Cash Control Policy to effectively control cash receipts, daily deposits and make petty cash expenditures.

Operations:

  • Supervises and strictly adheres to the Company’s recipes, methods and procedures, and all food preparations.  Participates as necessary in the preparation and cooking of food.
  • Ensures that food is presented in a manner to generate the utmost eye appeal.  Food is to be presented on a “just in time” basis.
  • Assists counter servers and food production workers during rush periods.
  • Assures proper sanitation and cleanliness of the unit in order to fulfill health requirements and to enhance the atmosphere for customers.
  • Regularly inspects all areas of the unit and reports all sub-standard safety, security or equipment conditions; corrects deficiencies as needed.
  • Responds in a positive manner, to customer inquiries, complaints, and incidents.

Human Resources Management:

  • Maintains the Company’s appearance and dress code standards for all crew members.
  • Ensures that all state and federal labor laws/ regulations are adhered to; interact with Human Resources department on a regular basis to ensure compliance. 
  • Immediately reports all employee issues or concerns to the General Manager.
  • Promotes a positive work environment through teamwork.

Job Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age. 
• High School diploma or GED preferred. 
• Must be able to work alone in the store for long periods of time (or full shifts as needed). 
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, in both verbally and in written form. 
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; able to read and write at a level sufficient to perform assigned duties successfully. 
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. 
• Ability to learn to operate a cash register, computer console, and other equipment and tools related to the work task. 
• Ability to learn and apply proper sanitation and safety requirements associated with food storage and serving. 
• Physical abilities necessary: 
o Ability to stand and/or walk for an at least 8 hours. 
o Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 60 pounds from ground to overhead up to 30 minutes of workday. 
o Ability to occasionally push and pull with arms up to a force of 20 pounds (i.e., utilizing a hand-truck). 
o Ability to occasionally bend at waist with some twisting up to one hour of workday. 
o Ability to occasionally grasp, reach, and manipulate objects with hands above the head and below the knees. (This work requires eye-hand coordination, and may require bilateral coordination of hands up to 4 hours of workday). 
• Ability to occasionally climb a ladder to store or retrieve materials, and/or place or remove signage. 
• Approximately 75% of work is performed indoors, but there are times when extended periods of work may be performed outside: 
o Ability to be exposed to intermittent outdoor hot or cold temperatures and external environmental insects when performing tasks outdoors. 
o Ability to be exposed to intermittent indoor cold temperature extremes when working in walk-in cooler or freezer. 
o Ability to be exposed to intermittent noise (i.e., cash register, telephone, etc.). 
• Capable of working in small spaces at times. 
• Demonstrated success in dealing with stressful situations. 
• Ability to work varying shifts, including overnight shifts and holidays. 

• Must be able to provide proof of authorization to work in the United States if hired.

High School Diploma or GED.

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1-2 years of experience in s supervisory role at a fast casual or full service restaurant.
  • Recipe preparation experience and knowledge.
  • Hands-on food preparation experience and general comfort in a kitchen.
  • Kitchen management experience and knowledge.
  • Must possess an adequate command of the English language to include understanding, speaking, reading and writing.
  • Must have basic computer and Point Of Sale operations proficiency as well as email as needed (Outlook).
  • Must be comfortable performing hands-on activities in a compact restaurant environment.
  • Forty to Fifty (40-50) hour work week is the standard expectation; must be flexible.
  • Able to endure prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending and stooping and adhere to proper techniques to ensure safety.
  • Able to lift and transport restaurant goods and equipment of up to 50 pounds across short distances in the restaurant.
  • Able to effectively and safely use kitchen knives and other kitchen tools.
  • Ability to concentrate when in a fast-paced restaurant environment while managing multiple tasks.
  • Basic mathematical skills and knowledge are required.
  • Demonstrated interest and willingness to serve the public in a positive manner at all times.
  • Skilled with office equipment including but not limited to:  Telephone, POS register, cash register, computer terminal, calculator, facsimile machine, cooking equipment, email, HR systems.
