Job Description

This position will perform SCM activities including the identification and establishment of baselines; the management of software change control methodology; the audits and reviews of the evolving software products; the management of software builds, releases and delivery activities, and the control of software code libraries. Select, implement, and maintain systems and tools used to support the SDLC both from the server side and the user side. Provide support to internal and external users for all tools.

Drive automation and maintenance of all standard tasks, builds, and deployments. Create and maintain integrations between systems to improve efficiency. Drive improvement in current processes and tools to ensure ongoing efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for client relationships for external and internal customers, software configuration vendors, and software development project teams

  • Complete all tasks assigned meeting deadlines with a high level of accuracy and completeness

  • Help define Software Configuration Management policies and plans and enforce those policies and plans across the development teams

  • Ensure configuration objects for projects are identified, naming conventions/versioning schemes are defined and communicated, and baselines are identified and established

  • Analyze configuration requirements for all applications

  • Define and manage the methods and tools to identify and control changes to the software throughout its development and maintenance including version control, change control, and traceability

  • Perform regular audits of software to ensure compliance with Change Management policies

  • Perform software builds/packaging and deployments ensuring that this build process adheres to policy, process, best practices, and standards and is fully automated, repeatable, reproducible

  • Create and maintain automation (builds, deployments, and standard tasks) and integrations utilizing approved tools and standards

  • Maintain and administer all systems and tools supported by the SCM team with a 99% uptime

  • Regularly review current processes, procedures, and systems and recommend improvements to appropriate management levels

  • Plan, manage, and implement improvement projects as assigned

  • Track statistics and status on standard tasks including but not limited to builds, deployments, branch creations, and merges

  • Report status on projects weekly to appropriate management levels

  • Identify risk and issues related to SCM, monitor for trends, and escalate unresolved issues and audit findings to appropriate management levels

  • Coordinate with internal and external team members to obtain approvals, manage and coordinate change implementations, monitor and report on implementations, review and close change requests ensuring accuracy, thoroughness, and timeliness

  • Design and develop automations and interfaces; completing programming using approved languages and software products; designing and conducting unit tests

  • Recommends system solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development and purchasing alternatives

  • Completes applications development by coordinating requirements, schedules, and activities; collaboration with internal and external stakeholders; mentor other team members in their automation efforts through peer/code review

  • Responsible for the:

    • compliance with all APG policies and procedures

    • compliance with all GPC policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • Requirements include but may not be limited to the following:

    • BS degree in computer related field or equivalent work experience

    • Ability to demonstrate a proven track record of defining and enforcing good Software Configuration Management practices based on industry standards

    • Solid interpersonal, verbal/written communication, organizational, and planning skills

    • Ability to demonstrate a proven track record of delivering solid automation and integrations using Java and various scripting languages

    • Experience with SDLC models; Agile, Iterative, and Waterfall

    • Strong technical analysis experience in system design and requirement gathering

    • Ability to understand the entire system infrastructure and its high-level interaction at both technical and process levels, i.e.; the various components of the software suite, their interaction with other internal systems, infrastructure, general architecture

    • Perseverance, tenacity, and ability to drive items to resolution

  • Desired Skills include but may not be limited to the following:

    • Jira Administration

    • Service-Now

    • Subversion Administration

    • Windows, Solaris, and Linux Server Administration (including IIS, JBoss, Tomcat)

    • Ability to read and write .Net code (C#)

    • MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL / Transaction SQL

    • Maven 2 and 3

    • Shell Scripting / Windows batch scripting

    • MSBuild
