Position Summary: 

The Store Manager sets the tone for the whole store and is responsible for the complete day-to-day operations of the store.  Therefore, the Store Manager must consistently do more than is required and frequently more than is expected.  They are responsible for maximizing store sales and profitability, along with managing expenses, while ensuring that the store is optimally stocked and merchandised and that all customers are provided with excellent customer services.  A store manager contributes to the growth and development of the management team and store associates by being enthusiastic, positive and by having a supportive attitude.  The Store Manager’s ultimate goal is to drive sales by ensuring that Green Mountain Ace’s Mission Statement is practiced, and that Policies and Procedures are applied.  This does NOT mean blind obedience to those documents, but rather to provide an environment for customers and employees that reflects consistent service levels that are excellent and consistently so.

Major Responsibilities:

The major responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Must strongly represent and embody the Core Values and Expectations.
  • Have a complete working knowledge of and willingness to use: cash register/point of sale (POS), Epicor, 
  • Time Clock software, inventory audits and outs, forklift, shade cutter, paint mixer, paint computer, key machine, pipe machine, radial arm saw, and ability to re-key locks.
  • Maintain a floor presence and a willingness to do whatever needs to be done to maintain and improve our store. (e.g. a significant knowledge of every department, willingness to help department managers put an order away, sweep the floor, bring down overstock, keep isles clear, etc.)
  • Overall responsibility for customer satisfaction.
  • Overall responsibility for store safety and security, including financial, customer, and employee safety.
  • Hire, train and develop retail staff with goals for growth and success in their positions, provide performance feedback and recognize accomplishments.
  • Supervision of all staff within store location, including but not limited to daily operations, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
  • Coordinate the overall supervision of retail staff to ensure sales performance goals are met and procedures are followed accurately.
  • Oversee and forecast scheduling needs 2-3 weeks in advance to meet customer demand and create work schedules including vacation, holiday, and sick leave request.
  • Oversee human resources issues including but not limited to day-to-day operations, payroll, performance reviews, ongoing coaching and mentoring, employee discipline, conflicts, vacations, holidays and training.
  • Maintain high level of housekeeping throughout the store, both inside and out.
  • Oversee Merchandising of store, including pricing, promotions, end caps and displays.
  • Review retail inventory and overstock to:  reduce shrinkage, maintain appropriate stock levels, and ensure inventory reporting accuracy. 
  • Oversee store merchandising and visual presentations to ensure standards are met with regards to end caps, floor displays, and general retail merchandising. 
  • Enforce shipping, receiving and transferring procedures to ensure inventory flow for the store maintains accuracy.
  • Maintain and establish business relationships with vendors, house accounts, and team
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures; is a safety role model.
  • Conscious of shoplifting activity.

Minimum Requirements:

The minimum requirements for this position include:

Education/Training: 

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • College preferred or vocational training.  
  • Posses a vast product knowledge of hardware related products along with a willingness to learn.

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 3-5 years retail management experience.

Skills/Knowledge: 

  • Strong leadership and analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations.
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks with a high attention to detail and follow through.
  • Knowledge of retail computer systems, MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business.
  • A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements:

The minimum physical requirements for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds frequently to load and unload customer orders.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to hear, understand and communicate orally and in writing to communicate with staff and customers a normal in-person and phone conversation.
  • Ability to bend and twist, push and pull, stoop, and kneel.
  • Ascend and descend ladder.
  • Ability to work at heights.

License and Certificates:

  • Must possess a current valid Colorado Driver’s License.
  • Upon hire must be willing to obtain and maintain forklift certification.

Rate of Pay: 

Dependent upon education and experience this position starts at $35K/year and is required at minimum to work 45 hours per week not including meal breaks.
