About this job

Established nationwide consumer credit and mortgage counseling non-profit seeks motivated Accountant to work at its Riverside, CA location. The Accountant applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and performs accounting processes by compiling information, preparing entries, completing schedules, and utilizing proper accounting control procedures.

The Accountant manages a wide variety of activities in a fast-paced environment, manages priorities, and meets deadlines. Use initiative, critical thinking and independent judgment; analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions recommend best options and implement approved solution in support of goals

 

Essential Duties 

  • Deliver high-level problem solving, excellent follow-up and timely, effective communications
  • Perform all responsibilities and duties in compliance with accounting and internal control procedures
  • Schedule and prioritize workload
  • Process all aspects of accounts receivable: Generate monthly invoices, follow-up receipts, reconcile accounts 
  • Process all aspects of fixed asset and capital lease accounting: Monitor invoice/purchase orders, set-up capitalized assets, prepare depreciation/amortization journal entries, monthly fixed assets reconciliation, prepare roll forward to annual audit 
  • Responsible for all aspects of Federal, State and Local contract accounting: Review invoice/purchase orders, journal entry, delivery required reporting, document scanning, prepare schedules, and submit invoices
  • Responsible for timely and accurate revenue recognition: Obtain revenue reports from department managers, prepare journal entries, reconcile revenue, and prepare revenue report for annual audit
  • Responsible for preparation of bank deposits, cash receipt and disbursement journal entries, bank reconciliations, and follow-up
  • Responsible for full cycle payroll processing: 401k submissions, payroll journal entry preparation, liability and expense general ledger account reconciliation
  • Perform monthly general ledger account analysis and resolve accounting discrepancies 
  • Support Director of Finance and Senior Accountant in the preparation of annual audit 
  • Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness
  • Interact with internal and external auditors

Minimum Qualifications

  • AA Degree or 5 years of comparable experience, Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Possess high level skills using personal computer applications such as Microsoft Office, CRT, and 10-key by touch
  • Ability to perform in stressful and challenging situations
  • Flexibility and availability to work weekends and/or evenings as needed
