In this position, you’ll be given the opportunity to develop the skills and passion of a group of individuals and assist in running department operations. I will add value by:

  • Performing tasks essential to the proper functioning of Prepared Foods including, ordering with Simplification practices in mind, hiring & staffing, training & development, scheduling and managing payroll
  • Delegating tasks to team members and empowering them to take on new challenges, being certain to provide timely feedback and annual performance reviews that focus on their growth and professional development
  • Leading employees by example to provide incredible customer service by proactively approaching customers at the counter, filling orders, answering any questions about products and responding to situations with a sense of urgency
  • Following Wegmans Guiding Principles and department job aides when preparing products and overseeing team members production to ensure a consistent outcome that meets Wegmans standards of quality
  • Upholding standards of quality, ensuring the freshest products are presented and available for customers to enjoy
  • Working with store receivers to ensure proper packaging is ordered and received so the department is prepared with supplies to efficiently serve customers
  • Maintaining the overall appearance of the department to ensure product levels are sustained throughout the day and cases are properly signed and well-merchandised to showcase quality, reflect Menu magazine themes & highlight featured items to drive sales
  • Educating and ensuring team members are properly handling products, using equipment and keeping accurate logs in accordance with food safety and safety guidelines

  • Control inventory levels and expenses such as payroll and shrink to impact bottom-line contribution (profit) for the department
  • Ability to multi-task and react to a variety of situations at one time
  • Practice proper ordering techniques to complete orders by deadlines and participate in inventory process to ensure items are available to support merchandising programs and product promotions
  • Exhibit merchandising skills by attractively displaying products considering seasonality, cross-merchandising opportunities and corporate programs with the aim of educating and enticing customers
  • Assist with meal preparation and planning by providing customers with proper serving guidelines and recommending correct cooking techniques, helping to make great meals easy

Work environment:
  • Work involves continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment
  • Typical motions include repetitive hand and arm movements, bending and reaching
  • Responsible for moving and lifting an average of 5 – 20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds rarely
  • May be exposed to various allergens and work environments, including temperature changes
  • Tasks will be performed using and in the proximity of coolers, ovens, stoves and other hot equipment; cooking and kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Will be required to spend the majority of time on his or her feet and stand or walk without a break for up to 4 hours
