PRIMARY FUNCTION
 
Responsible for operating and performing maintenance on multiple digital presses from various manufactures (Xerox, Xeikon, Oce, etc.) to produce commercial quality static and variable print projects. Projects will encompass both long and short runs, using multiple input channels and a wide range of media options.
 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
1.Meet production and quality guidelines.
2.Ensure all job requirements, specifications and deadlines are met.
3.Pre-flight client files, generate press proofs and apply modifications.
4.Perform digital impositioning, variable print set-up and color corrections as required.
5.Perform production color management procedures.
6.Consistently perform job requirements with a high degree of accuracy and quality.
7.Efficient in black & white scanning as well as color scanning.
8.Perform specified maintenance on equipment as instructed by Manufacturer’s maintenance training programs.
9.Responsible for monitoring inventory on all machine and paper supplies.
10.Prepare product for shipping and distribution.
11.Coordinates/participates in projects as assigned by supervisor.
12.Flexible to work other then scheduled hours, as workload requires.
13.Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
14.Adhere to all safety procedures.
 
REPORTING/WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Pressroom Supervisor.
Communicate and interact effectively with all members of the Printing Services team.
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
·High school diploma or equivalent.
·3+ years experience operating digital printing presses.
·2+ years experience working with variable print workflows and knowledge of producing make-ready’s
·Proven mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills.
·Experience with color production workflows with an emphasis on digital workflow.
·Experience with multiple operating systems (Windows, MAC, etc.)
·Experience working with MAC and/or PC based document creation and image editing software (i.e. Quark, PageMaker, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) in addition to PDF workflows.
·Experience with color management processes and equipment.
·Knowledge of substrates and their limitations/characteristics.
·Ability to perform physical duties when applicable. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
·Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
·Must be able to work 12 hour shifts.
 
DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:
·Technical school graduate in Graphic Arts or equivalent.
·Knowledge of RIPs and/or Image setters.
·Knowledge or experience in an on-demand production environment.
·Knowledge of basic color theory.
·Knowledge of color spaces and ICC color profiling.
