Position Description - Line Cook

Overview Of Responsibilities: To set-up the line staff positioning to be worked that shift, cook food up to company standards, maintain sanitation standards, and prepare the line for the next shift.

Specific Functions and Duties:

• Arrive to work 5-10 minutes before shift and be ready to work
• Arrive to work in proper uniform with proper hygiene
• Cook and prepare a variety of foods following our recipes and specifications
• Complete any specific prep work to be done for your shift as assigned by the Chef or KM on duty
• Follow all kitchen safety and sanitation policies & procedures
• Adhere to plate presentation guidelines
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen
• Exhibit teamwork and maintain a positive relationship with other employees
• Communicate clearly with other BOH personnel, FOH, and managers to ensure proper flow process
• Stock & break down section at beginning and end of shifts
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned or requested

Qualifications:

• Must have the ability to read and communicate in English
• Must have 2 years kitchen experience, knowledge of knife skills, cooking equipment & sanitation standards
• Must be able to follow directions and recipes to company standards
• Must pass written and verbal menu tests
• Must be able to lift heavy objects from overhead repeatedly
• Must be able to work in a high paced, high pressured atmosphere

Requirements: This job will require standing for more than 6 hours; walking; using hands to fingers, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. It will require stooping, kneeling crouching, climbing or crawling. Occasionally required to climb or balance; talk or hear and taste or smell. Close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision is required. Frequent lifting and/or moving items up to 40 pounds are also required. Exposure to wet/slippery surfaces, extremes in temperature from hot to cold, open flames, and working in tight spaces are a part of this job.
