Pizza Team Leader Full Time

In the role of a Pizza Team Leader, you will be given the opportunity to develop the skills and passions of a group of individuals and manage a full service pizza shop within a larger store setting. You’ll share your passion and knowledge of the industry to ensure customers have access to the freshest most delicious pizzas, calzones and more – and receive it with the incredible customer service Wegmans prides itself on!

• Overseeing the entire operations of the Pizza department including ordering with Simplification practices in mind, hiring & staffing, training & development, scheduling, managing payroll, analyzing financial numbers and other elements of contribution (profit) and controlling shrink (waste)  
• Leading employees by example to provide incredible customer service by proactively acknowledging all customers at the counter, filling orders and answering any questions they have about products or programs offered 
• Ensuring all tasks are completed in the department including making and rolling out dough; preparing pizza toppings, pizzas, calzones, Incrediburgers and items for the wing bar; taking and preparing customer orders; and preparing, packaging and rotating products in the cold case 
• Delegating tasks to team members and empowering them to take on new challenges, being certain to provide timely feedback and annual performance reviews that focus on their growth and professional development 
• Following Wegmans core recipes while preparing pizzas and other items in the Pizza department to ensure a consistent outcome, overseeing team members and correcting any errors  
• Teaching employees to correctly cook pizzas and other items in a pizza oven, keeping a close eye on products during the cooking process, while balancing other tasks, to ensure they are prepared to Wegmans standards of quality  
• Forecasting department and customer needs and accurately planning daily production lists and menus  
• Maintaining the overall appearance of the department to ensure product levels are sustained throughout the day and cases are properly signed and well-merchandised to showcase quality and increase sales  
• Maintaining open lines of communication with team members, Executive/ Store Chef, Prepared Foods Manager and/ or other Prepared Foods departments to ensure the most efficient operations  
• Educating and ensuring team members are properly handling products, using equipment and keeping accurate logs in accordance with food safety and safety guidelines, understanding the highly perishable nature of the product

• Customer service experience, preferably in a pizza shop or other food service industry

• Use performance and career development tools to manage and develop others, working with employees to set and achieve individual and department goals
• Practice proper planning and staffing techniques which include managing time and resources

• Use data analysis, wisdom, experience, judgment, and past actions as well as input from other sources for decision making, always considering the impact on customers, sales and contribution (profit)
• Control inventory levels and expenses such as payroll and shrink to impact bottom-line contribution (profit) for the department
• Ability to multi-task and react to a variety of situations at one time
• Practice proper ordering techniques to complete orders by deadlines and participate in inventory process to ensure items are available to support merchandising programs and product promotions
• Exhibit merchandising skills by attractively displaying products considering seasonality, cross-merchandising opportunities and corporate programs with the aim of educating and enticing customers
• Assist with meal preparation and planning by providing customers with proper serving guidelines and recommending correct cooking techniques, helping to make great meals easy

• Managerial/ supervisory experience
• Food preparation experience
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and produce quality products with speed and accuracy

• Work involves continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment
• Typical motions include repetitive hand and arm movements, bending, reaching and lifting
• Required to move and lift an average of 5 – 20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds rarely
• May be exposed to various allergens and work environments, including temperature changes
• Tasks will be performed using and in the proximity of coolers; ovens and other hot equipment; cooking and kitchen utensils and equipment
• Will be required to spend the majority of time on his or her feet and stand or walk without a break for up to 4 hours
