Spectra Tech is currently seeking a Supply Technician to work with our government client in Adelphi, MD. This position will have front line contact with internal and external customers requiring active problem solving and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Tasks may include:

  • Responsible to reference AR 710-2 and AR 735-5 to identify items that have a security risk assigned by the Army (e.g., ammunition, explosives, weapons, bayonets, precious metals) that requires an inventory control record.
  • Monitors and analyzes Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS) to determine the accuracy of all accountability records to ensure consistency with the DLA database.
  • Contacts representatives of commercial firms to obtain information regarding new items of supply based on Government requisitions.
  • Researches FEDLOG, AESIP, Internet, and regulations for purification (federal stock number, manufacture code and part number, management control number) of cataloging within DPAS.
  • Collects necessary data to take or recommend action based on application or interpretation of guides.
  • Prepares accountable documents for purchases per regulatory guidance.
  • Ensures all documentation is complete and accurate to maintain property accountability records as required by AR 710-2.
  • Responsible for all file maintenance to include maintaining a file for each non- accountable document number assigned (by either the Government or Contractor) in accordance with Army regulations.
  • Reports excess information by an automated system to Government POC.
  • Prepares supply forms (automated and manual).
  • Initiates supporting documentation for requisitions.
  • Updates requisition system in reference to supporting documentation.
  • Provides status (e.g., receipts, due-ins) to customers (Government and Contractors) on work orders, excess equipment, and requisitions.
  • Researches and establishes catalog records in DPAS automated system.
  • Maintains established files according to Army filing system (e.g., AR 25-400-2 ARIMS).
  • Distributes documented receiving procedures and files purchase request records (e.g., documents generated by GFEBS, DPAS).
  • Operates computers (desktop PC) to complete tasks associated with DPAS.
  • Operates telephone (to include answering phone and taking messages).
  • Operates office machines to include but not limited to copy and facsimile machines.
  • Provides on-the-job training to other contractor personnel.
  • Utilize current business management tools and databases such as eARL; GFEBS; and AESIP.
  • Recognize the dimension of the problems involved to collect the necessary data, establish the facts, and make recommendations for action based upon application or interpretation of established guidelines.
  • Attains and maintains a Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Account Management and Provisioning System (AMPS). Required to access WebFLIS. WebFLIS provides essential information about supply items including the NSN, the item name, manufacturers, and suppliers (including part numbers). The use of this platform is invaluable in completing the DD Form 1348-1A to schedule drop off at the DLA Disposition Services.
  • Categorizes and determines property to be turn-in as Usable Property - Commercial and military type property other than scrap and waste. Usable property can be any excess/surplus property turned in with a supply condition code of A-H, other than property in DEMIL codes G or P. Scrap Property - Recyclable waste and discarded materials derived from items that have been rendered useless beyond repair, such that the item's original function has been destroyed. Hazardous Property (HP) - A composite term to describe property which may be hazardous to human health, human safety, or the environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of general office experience. Relevant college courses or training may be substituted for experience.
  • Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Power Point, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Experience operating standard office equipment, to include telephones, copy machine, scanners, facsimile machine, computers, printers, and shredders.
  • Ability to learn and utilize software, hardware, and peripherals required to operate inventory accountability systems.
  • Capable of learning the supply systems, programs, policies, work methods and established guidelines.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS

Active SECRET CLEARANCE or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Accordingly, U.S. Citizenship is required.
