The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for general building and grounds maintenance as well as performing both predictive and preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment. Maintenance Mechanics are also involved in routine tasks, such as lubrication of machinery, seal replacement, cleaning of parts during repair, adjusting valves and seals, investigating breakdowns, removing and replacing motors, starters, relays, limit switches, fuses, primary control components. Must be able to read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures. Must be able to safety and correctly use hand and power tools. Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems, control and power electrical systems, hydraulics, and/or pneumatics and focus on problem solving issues. Responsibilities and skills in, but not limited to; installing, maintaining, dismantling and repairing new and existing machinery or equipment and its components such as machining centers, press brakes, burn tables, mechanical clutches, gear boxes, control and power electrical systems, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.

The Maintenance Mechanic position requires working within precise limits or standards of accuracy, at heights without fear; the use of logical step-by-step procedures in work; planning, solving problems and decision-making based on quantifiable information. Maintenance Mechanics are trained to work with a wide array of precision tools, such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, levels, gauge blocks, and optical and laser alignment tooling.

Our Maintenance Mechanics earn a starting salary of $30.00 - $35.00 per hour, depending on experience. Our Day Shift hours are Monday-Thursday 7:00am-5:30pm and Friday 7:00am-3:30pm.

What You'll Do:
  • Install, maintain, overhaul, modify and repair machinery and stationary equipment (e.g., conveyors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic devices, pumps, engines, motors, programmable logic controls, machining centers, press brakes, burn tables, etc.)
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions through troubleshooting production problems and taking preventive or corrective action
  • Perform pre- and post-operational checks of equipment ensuring operating safety devices function properly upon completion of repairs, modifications, and installations
  • Read and interpret blueprints, manuals, schematics, and process specifications to visualize layouts and guide work
  • Collect, analyze, summarize, and communicate information, irregularities, or trends in order to prepare mechanical maintenance reports to support ongoing maintenance program requirements
  • Collaborate with production departments and maintenance shop personnel to ensure maintenance requirements are completed in timely fashion
  • Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work environment practicing 6S principles, environmental sustainability, and continuous improvement related to maintenance processes and procedures
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks, forklifts, scissor or boom lifts to position equipment and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery
  • Maintain all equipment by performing routine repair work, daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual maintenance
  • Perform minor repairs which should include, mechanical, plumbing, building and grounds to keep the entire facility in working order
  • Coordinate any electrical repairs with Electrician or contracted Electrician
  • Responsible for observing and following all safety procedures and regulations
  • Miscellaneous other duties as directed by department supervisor

What We Need from You:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a mechanic, maintenance mechanic, or millwright.
  • Experience understanding, interpreting, troubleshooting and problem solving mechanical and electrical challenges
  • Experience with repairing CNC machine centers, lathes, press brakes, plasma burn tables, forklifts, scissor-lifts, knuckle boom, cranes (overhead & jib), slings, chains ironworkers, drill presses, welders, saws, or similar equipment
  • Computer knowledge to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and maintenance software ManagerPlus or similar
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and other related drawings
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to apply concepts such as basic math skills, fractions, micrometers, percentages, ratios, proportions to practical situations, and able to convert decimals into inches
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret a tape measure, blueprints, and bills of material (BOM’s)
  • Continue to grow lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement
  • Skilled in working efficiently and accurately to keep up with production requirements
  • Safe material handling skills in working with steel
  • Capacity to learn quickly, parts machined are unique to manufactured equipment and change orders are frequent
  • Flexible and adaptable in coping with pressures, deadlines, and rapidly changing situations
  • Self-starter, self-motivated, and flexible using a variety of skills and the ability to change tasks as needed
  • Maintain positive, cooperative working relationships by working, acting, and communicating with various personalities getting along with customers, vendors, co-workers, and management working both individually and as part of a team
