Job Title: Warehouse Manager

Job Status: Full-time, Salary-Exempt

Reports To: Branch Manager (directly) and Chief Operating Officer (in-directly)

Summary: Directs warehousing activities for organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establishes operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current.
  • Inspects physical condition of warehouse and equipment.
  • Prepares work order for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment.
  • Confers with branch staff to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with activities of other functions such as production, sales, records control, and purchasing.
  • Directs salvage of damaged or used material.
  • Recruits, hires, and trains new warehouse employees. Coaches, counsels, schedules and disciplines current warehouse employees as needed by enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to creating and recommending strategic plans and reviews in order to achieve operational objectives. Prepares and implements production and quality plans based around customer service standards. Resolves problems and identifies trends.
  • Determines product handling and storage requirements to develop warehouse operations systems. Develops (if needed), implements, evaluates and enforces policies and procedures. Develops (or adheres to current) processes for receiving product, utilizing equipment, managing inventory and shipping product.
  • Develops and implements effective warehouse layout that accounts for product flow, equipment and product handling systems.
  • Follows and enforces company’s safety standards and procedures in compliance with a healthy work environment and legal requirements.
  • Participates in ongoing education to update job knowledge.
  • Works closely with management team to ensure all operational, administrative, and compliance functions within the firm are being properly executed in accordance to regulatory-based best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned as necessitated by company and/or business demands.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises 10 to 15 employees in the Warehouse.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate’s degree from two-year technical school, college or university preferred.
  • Must have at least two years related experience and/or training.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be acceptable.

  • Proficiency with Warehouse and Distribution Management Software including RF technology. Experience with Epicor Eclipse preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of warehouse best practices; Use of KPI’s to create reliable and sustainable improvements
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of (or ability to learn) accounting software, Human Resource systems, Job/Contract Management systems, internet software, inventory software, order processing systems, Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, use hands to grasp/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk through the facility.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and regularly lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

  • Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions.
  • Moderate noise level.
