Job Description:

  • CompQsoft is seeking a Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) Senior Net-Centric Enterprise Architect to join our DISA team in Fort Meade, MD. This is an exciting key position to a major Department of Defense initiative. The candidate will work on all aspects of TDM legacy network support and migration/integration to DISN Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS)/IP and optical core. The candidate will work with various DISN MPLS, Legacy TDM and optical network engineers to install replacement Low Speed TDM (LSTDM) equipment per the approved architecture and migrate circuits from legacy network to new architecture and equipment.
  • The candidate will be responsible for coordinating technical exchanges between various vendors, customers, project managers, and service providers to develop engineering briefing material and Analysis of Alternatives to support the DISA IE5 with Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs). Candidate will provide guidelines to test engineers based on customer requirements as to the test criteria and test cases that need to be validated in the DISN lab. The candidate will support the DISA operations and Implementation team on a daily basis in regard to circuit migration, equipment installation and configuration, and any operational issues that will have to validated and resolve as chronic issues, requiring quick lab support.

Responsibilities:

  • As the Lead/Senior Architect, instructs, provides technical direction, and checks the work of other task personnel and ensures milestones, customer requirements and project deliverables are met and delivered on time.
  • Prepare engineering briefing material in the conduct of TDM TIMs, including industry day(s) with equipment vendors, service providers and customers.
  • Provide in-depth engineering analysis, deployment, and transition plans of transport level equipment in support of government strategic modernization efforts as documented in the DISN Technical Evolution Plan (DTEP).
  • Support Planning and testing of legacy network access migration of various interfaces, circuits, and vendor equipment to next generation transport (NGT).
  • Support to design node-level systems engineering plans to migrate legacy infrastructure (i.e., Multi-Service Provisioning Platform (MSPP), Optical Digital Cross Connect (ODXC), Multiplexer13 (M13)) to approved alternate solutions.

  • Provide the required technical expertise and engineering support to develop EWOs for any new requirements (i.e., new cards or other Major Bill of Materials (MBOM) equipment) or solution hardware to complete site build outs in MSS. In preparation of migration, review the Circuit Layout Record/Design Layout Record (CLR/DLR) to ensure Paragraph 3 of the TSO is correct IAW the approved engineering design.
  • Interface with DISA operations in support of implementation of NGT equipment and migration of exiting TDM circuits and customers to NGT architecture.

Skills:

  • DoD and/or Government program experience preferred; DISA experience a plus.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10+ years' experience working with low-speed network access interfaces (i.e., sub T-1, T-1, E-1, DS-3, Optical Carrier-3 (OC-3), OC-12, OC-48)
  • Minimum 10 years' experience working in the planning of legacy and transition to next generation emerging transport technologies such as OTN/Packet switching, L1/L2 switches, legacy SONET/SDH technologies, Next Generation Transports over MPLS-TP, and Optical Transport System (a.k.a. DWDM).
  • Familiarity with ITU-T, OIF and IETF standards. Knowledge of transport protocols such as ITU-T G.709, Layer 1/Layer 2 protocols, and Ethernet. Familiarity with QPSK, QAM is highly desirable.
  • Experience providing strategic technical recommendations to senior-level customers and program managers, including authoring analytical, architecture, and engineering products such as whitepapers, analysis reports, or briefings.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools: PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent communication, effective leadership, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Prior experience with TDM equipment such as Cisco 15440 (MSPP) and Sycamore SN9K and SN16K is a must.
  • Prior experience with next generation transport utilizing MPLS-TP is desired.
  • Prior experience with Optical Manufacturer such as Ciena, Cisco, Infinera or Nokia equipment is a plus.
