UDR, Inc. is now hiring a Manager - Property Claims to join our team at our corporate office in Highlands Ranch.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Oversee and manage the Company's property claims and subrogation processes. Provide the support necessary to ensure that property claims practices are in place to ensure timely and complete processing and reporting of property claims in accordance with the Company's policy. Interacts closely with Senior Management, Legal, Accounting, and Property Operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Oversight of property claims in accordance with the Insurance and Company policy.
  2. Analyze and prepare historical loss data to assist with the development of forecasts and budgets.
  3. Oversight and management of Risk Management Information System (RMIS) and property claims Third Party Administrator (TPA).
  4. Correspond with outside insurance adjusters, internal stakeholders, and other sources to gather important and relevant information necessary to review, authorize or assist in settling claims.
  5. Review invoices related to claims for approval or denial in accordance with the Company's property insurance policy.
  6. Evaluate liability and damages to assess subrogation potential and pursue reimbursement of claims for maximum potential recovery.
  7. Provide guidance/recommendations and establish protocols on insurance-related questions.
  8. Track and compile claim data and prepare various management and activity reports as necessary.
  9. If applicable, supervise direct reporting staff in accordance with overall Company policy.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures. Knowledge of Human Resources policies and procedures. Ability to apply policies and procedures to solve everyday and/or complex company issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation, facilitation, and negotiation skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information. Understanding of compliance and risk management programs and requirements. Knowledge of the industry and work environment. Acts with ethics and integrity to protect assets of the organization.
  • Ability to accept accountability, demonstrate initiative, and lead by example in teamwork, cross functional cooperation, information sharing. Experience in team building, consulting, facilitation, negotiation, conflict resolution. Demonstrates a high degree of integrity and strong work ethic; orientation toward results; positive attitude.

Ability to be an independent worker; accountable for and skilled in exercising sound judgment.
  • Ability to motivate, develop, and direct people as they work, identifying the best people for the job. Ability to apply the principles and practices of work leadership and management. Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities and to lead, train and mentor the payroll team.
  • Ability to process computer data and to format and generate reports. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials. Must be proficient in a variety of software applications including Excel spreadsheets, Word, Outlook, internet, and e-mail.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Some bending, stooping, and stretching. Occasionally lifting items weighing up to 30 lbs. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Extensive data input and required ability to sit for long periods of time. Regular and consistent attendance on the job is an essential function.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. A BS degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  2. Minimum of three-to-five years' experience working in the field of risk management.
  3. Supervisory experience is preferred.
  4. Experience in multifamily real estate and/or REIT's is desirable.
  5. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license unless otherwise noted.

Salary Range:
* $102,000.00/yr. - $112,000.00/yr., depends on experience

Bonus Potential:
* Eligible for 15% annual bonus potential, based on personal and company performance
