Job Description
The Electrical System Engineer prepares plans, specifications, contracts, and cost estimates for assigned projects. The Electrical System Engineer will be responsible for evaluating construction and equipment bids, ensure proper system design, direct and develop work plans.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably a BSEE degree
• 5 years related experience in electrical distribution utility industry
• Knowledge of public purchasing and finance rules and regulations
• PE License preferred
• CPR/First Aid Certified
• Knowledge of MS Office Suite
• Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License

Typical Duties

• Establishes an annual Departmental Expense and Capital Expenditure Budget.
• Ensures proper system design and construction is in accordance with company, National, State and Local standards.
• Develops and modifies construction practices, as needed.
• Directs and develop System Long Range Plans.
• Reviews and recommend guidelines which determine system design criteria for both overhead and underground construction.
• Initiates studies of equipment, operating practices, or procedures to determine optimum performance and recommend implementation of necessary corrections or change.
• Researches, compile, and analyze data for reporting and presenting.
• Assists Warehouse/Purchasing to ensure proper selection of equipment.
• Maintains adequate distribution system grounding, making fault current, loading, and voltage calculations.
• Maintains and reports customer outage data for internal and external stakeholders.
• Determines the optimum arrangement, configuration, location, design, and capacity of the distribution system.
• Provides technical advice to customers and potential customers concerning all facets of distribution power supply and use.
• Responsible for the proper design of all new distribution facilities and necessary changes in the present distribution facilities.
• Coordinates work of consulting engineers for various studies and analysis’ as workload requires.
