Walmart's Indirect Tax Team plays a critical role in the company's financial operations, focusing on compliance, operational, and audit aspects of sales and use tax. As a Fortune 1 market leader, Walmart is committed to transforming its end-to-end tax calculation system and processes, embarking on a multi-year journey to centralize and modernize its tax engine and compliance reporting. The team is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of transaction taxes charged to customers and members across Walmart and Sam's Club domestic operations. With responsibility for reporting and remitting transactional taxes across thousands of jurisdictions, the Indirect Tax Team also provides valuable insights to key tax policy stakeholders.

You'll make an impact by...
  • Overseeing account reconciliations for indirect tax accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Leading forecasting efforts for the indirect tax team, enabling accurate budgeting and planning.
  • Supporting SOX reporting and maintenance of strong internal controls.
  • Collaborating with key partners across the controllership, treasury, and finance to achieve shared goals.
  • Managing monthly close activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline and automate indirect tax accounting functions.
  • Driving continuous improvement and supporting the adoption of new processes and technologies.
  • Mentoring and developing team members, providing ongoing feedback, and identifying opportunities for growth.

You'll sweep us off our feet if you have...
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting; CPA or advanced degree in Taxation is a plus.
  • 6+ years of accounting and/or indirect tax experience, preferably with exposure to retail, Big 4, or mid-tier firms.
  • 3+ years in a leadership position.
  • Experience in creating and executing standard operating procedures.
  • A passion for process improvement and are stimulated by challenges.
  • Working knowledge with SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Proficiency in tax data analysis and leveraging data to optimize tax strategies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field and 3 years' experience in accounting, finance, income tax
compliance, or related area OR 5 years' experience in accounting, finance, income tax compliance, or related area.
1 years' supervisory experience.
