Title: Manager of Information Technology and Infrastructure Department: Information Technology

Reports to: Director of Information Technology

FLSA: Exempt

Job Grade: 13

Job Purpose: Provide leadership and support to multiple areas of Information Technology including Infrastructure/Data Center management, Networking, Internet/Intranet and Help Desk/Desktop Support. Manage various information technology projects and provide system/application oversight. Protect credit union assets from Cyber Security threats and ensure IT is well prepared for audits in area of responsibility. This position will be responsible for monitoring day-to-day information technology functions, including directing staff for adherence to policy and procedures, resolving issues in a timely and efficient manner, maintaining department procedures and serve as one of the primary information technology contacts when the Director of Information Technology is unavailable.

Essential Job Results:

JOB SPECIFIC RESULTS

  1. Manage IT Infrastructure, Data Center, and Network functions:

    • Architect and develop non-core system and network design to provide a scalable and cost -effective platform for credit union IT systems.

    • Provide a secure technology environment and consider all types of Cyber Security threats when designing and implementing systems.

    • Oversees and leads the patch management program.

    • Ensure availability of critical services in support of our members.

    • Ensure an effective data backup process is in place.

    • Maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair computer systems, hardware, and computer peripherals.

  2. Manage Support functions:

    • Plan, implement and support productivity applications including, but not limited to email, chat, intranet, and other collaboration tools.

    • Ensure availability of applications during business hours.

    • Provide support to end users on a variety of questions or problems via telephone calls, email and personnel request for technical support.

    • Identify, research, and resolve technical problems.

    • Document, track progress and monitor problems to ensure a timely resolution.

  3. Support and maintain user accounts including rights, security, and system groups.

  4. Information Technology Project Management

    • Maintain and prioritize current information technology projects and requests under area of responsibility.

    • Identify project requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual clients and other persons in a position to understand project requirements.

    • Organize information by studying, analyzing, interpreting, and classifying data.

    • Facilitate communications and prioritization on projects. Also keep leadership apprised of progress by engaging in regular contact and delivering written and verbal reports.

5. Collaborates with business users to identify hardware and software solutions to further enable the business.

6. Assists Director of IT in budget, revenue, expense and capital expenditure plans, and monitors progress.

7. Serves as backup to the Senior Systems Administrator and assists as required by the position to include the administration of systems and other duties as needed.

8. On-call hours (nights and weekends) are required on a rotating basis.

9. Assists in the strategic roadmap vision for IT.

GENERAL MANAGEMENT RESULTS

  1. Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, maintaining a safe and secure work environment, and developing personal growth opportunities.

  2. Mentor staff by providing individual guidance and technical expertise.

  3. Work with the risk management department to conduct random audits of employees' work.

  4. Accomplish staff job results and departmental goals by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; effectively scheduling staff to meet the credit union's needs; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; conducting training; initiating, coordinating, implementing, and enforcing systems, policies and procedures; and keeping supervisor updated on issues on a regular basis.

  5. Complete operations by developing schedules; assigning and monitoring work; gathering resources; implementing productivity standards; resolving operations problems; maintaining reference manuals; implementing new procedures; keeping supervisor informed of problems and solutions.

  6. Maintain department policies and procedures by assessing practices, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and recommending changes to the supervisor.

  7. Maintain operations by initiating, recommending, coordinating, and enforcing operational and personnel policies and procedures; and coordinating, developing, and maintaining comprehensive procedures for each position in the operational area of responsibility.

  8. Manage diversity in the workplace by understanding, supporting, and practicing equal employment opportunity regulations and participating in all mandatory training regarding this and related topics.

  1. Maintain member and employee confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential and sharing on a business-related as-needed basis only.

  2. Engage in problem resolution by clarifying the member's and/or employee's complaint; determining the cause of the problem; selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem; expediting correction or adjustment; following up to ensure resolution; and keeping the supervisor informed of problems and solutions.

  3. Comply with UKFCU policies and procedures by enforcing and adhering to internal UKFCU procedures and board-established policies.

  4. Comply with federal, state, and local regulations and legal requirements by enforcing and adhering to requirements.

  5. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by maintaining an awareness of competitors' rates and terms, industry trends and technology; attending staff meetings; identifying opportunities to attend seminars that enhance skills and maintain knowledge of new products that could assist in improving operational effectiveness; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; and participating in professional societies.

  6. Contribute to a team effort by accomplishing corporate and individual goals and other related results as needed.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • 3-5 years of similar or related experience in a management role.
  • Expert knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking, web design, server infrastructure, and data centers.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, Virtualization, and Cybersecurity.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions in an IT environment.
  • Ability to travel to branch locations to maintain systems.
  • Ability to motivate and influence others, foster sound relationships, present a trustworthy and diplomatic image, and engage effectively with others.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions while dealing with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to write reports, correspondence, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The employee will be required to work mostly indoors in a climate-controlled office setting; infrequently however, the employee will be working in a Datacenter that is fan cooled to low temperatures.
