Has your job become a grind? Managing your hours, dealing with customers, long commutes – It’s no wonder burnout has been a rising buzzword for hourly workers.
It’s perfectly normal to experience burnout from time to time, but if you’re showing all of these signs (or have had some of them for a while), it may be time to move on.
You dread each shift. Ok let’s get real, does anyone look forward to going to work? Probably not. But you shouldn’t dread going to work every day, and if you do, it could be a sign that things are not going well in your current role.
You’re short with your coworkers or customers. Are you finding yourself snapping at your colleagues, or worse, at customers? That could be a sign of general frustration at your job.
You’re not growing in your role. You’ve been in your role for a while, but you haven’t been learning anything new or moved up to the next level. Sound familiar? Lack of growth can lead to boredom and burnout.
You’re too tired from work to do what you love outside of work. Are you getting home from work so exhausted that you don’t want to engage in your hobbies or hang out with your friends? This is a serious sign of burnout.
You regularly think about quitting. Perhaps the simplest sign of burnout is if you’re consistently fantasizing about walking out and never coming back. Lots of people think about quitting once in a while, but if you’re thinking about it on the regular, it’s probably time to do something about it.
