Weekly Hourly Hiring Report 1/19/20
Highlights
Overall jobs are down 13% week over week, up 1% month over month, and down 5% since March.
As we all hope for and anticipate a peaceful transition of power, the move from the Trump administration to the Biden administration will have an impact on hourly jobs.
Biden’s proposed $1.9 Trillion Covid-19 Relief Package includes:
Additional stimulus of $1,400-per-person via direct payments to most households
A $400-a-week unemployment insurance supplement through September
Expanded paid leave and increases in the child tax credit
Support for state and local governments to distribute the vaccine
In addition, the plan includes a proposed increase in minimum wage to $15/hour.
Over 17.7 million vaccines have been administered in the U.S. since the rollout on December 14. Last week, Dollar General announced it will pay its 157,000 workers for 4 hours of work if they get the COVID vaccine. Companies across the country are scrambling to lobby state and federal governments to secure vaccine priority for their workforces and Dollar General wants to remove all barriers for its employees. A trend that we anticipate other businesses will follow.
