Weekly Hourly Hiring Report 2/16/21

Highlights

Overall jobs are up 5% week over week, up 13% month over month, and up 12% since early March.

This week, we’ve seen the country slow down on multiple fronts—economic recovery, kids’ return to the classroom and vaccine distribution—due to disastrous winter weather.

There’s also been little movement on the latest relief package as Congress focused its attention on the impeachment trial. The House is expected to vote on the pandemic-relief bill during the week of Feb. 22 before discussions move to the Senate.

According to Bloomberg economist Eliza Winger, “The economy is on the mend, but lacking a steadily accelerating momentum.”  In positive news for restaurants and some retailers across the country, Valentine’s Day provided a much-needed boost.
