Overall jobs are up 19% week over week, up 29% month over month, and up 8% since March. Google searches for part-time jobs are up 25% month over month.

Trend data continues to highlight the unevenness of the economy’s recovery from the impact of the pandemic. While the housing and stock markets are booming, applications for state unemployment benefits remain extremely high.

While COVID vaccine adoption has been mixed, businesses continue to encourage their employees to get vaccinated. Some, such as Sodexo, Benchmark Senior Living and school systems across the country are hosting informational sessions to increase employee confidence. Others, like Olive Garden, Dollar General, and ALDI are compensating frontline workers for the time they spend getting vaccinated.  And Anheuser-Busch announced they will forgo a Super Bowl ad spot this year and will instead devote that prime ad spot to spreading awareness of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Things are looking up, and people want to get back to work. We’ll be keeping an eye on the Labor Department’s jobs report, which will be released Friday, February 5.
