Position Summary Statement:

Reporting to the Outreach & Community Engagement Manager, the bilingual Spanish-speaking Transitioning Youth Coordinator will be an integral part of the Benefits Enrollment Center and Ready @ 21 transitioning youth programs. This position will provide support for connecting to and engaging Transitioning Youth Students and their families to our DORS Pre-Employment Training Services and The Arc’s Benefits Enrollment Center; This position has no direct reports.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Transition intake process for English-speaking youth and their families
  • Conduct benefits screenings and review resource reports
  • Assist clients with the completion of their applications for benefits
  • Coordinate support for families to facilitate the referral and service delivery process
  • Maintain Transitioning Youth Client Records and progress notes
  • Host outreach events to educate Transitioning Youth families on benefits planning and transitioning youth services
  • Coordinate Transitioning Youth (Ready@21, Ready2Travel, Ready2B healthy) and other related program sessions
  • Monitor and Edit Ready@21 Program Modules and other related content
  • Provide program evaluation support to the Program Director of Education & Community Engagement
  • Generate monthly reports for DORS invoices/billing and grant outcomes and related programs
  • Provide administrative support to Arc members and additional outreach activities as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to drive is a requirement of the position.

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve non-routine and complex problems; use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills; perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks; work under intensive deadlines with frequent interruptions; and interact with the community stakeholders including elected and appointed officials, staff, people served, the public and others encountered in the course of work.


Working Conditions:

Normal office environment. Must be familiar with basic office equipment (e.g. computer, facsimile, copier, postage machines, etc.).

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Related Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of experience in transitioning youth services for minors with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities
  • Knowledgeable on Core federal and state disability benefits
  • Knowledgeable on DORS Pre-Employment Training Services
  • Demonstrated commitment to precision and detail
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills, with an emphasis on timeliness
  • Commitment to The Arc Prince George's County's mission and a broad progressive agenda
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility and eagerness to learn
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision both remotely and in the office
  • Ability to follow instructions and ask clarifying questions
  • Ability to take the initiative, work independently, and work as a member of a team
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
